Welcome to MagicBell!

We are glad to have you here! We want to make sure your time at MagicBell is rewarding and fun.

Joining a new company can be intimidating, but we are all here to make sure you have a great experience. At any time, if you have any questions or concerns, ping your team member or manager on Slack.

This guide is a collaborative effort and the first contribution you can make to our team. If anything is outdated or incorrect, please directly change it. Thank you. Let’s get started!

Getting Started

<aside> 💡 Before creating your accounts, read this guide about how to have strong passwords and ensure that your passwords have at least 8 characters, one upper case, and one number.

The first item on the list is to set up your MagicBell email address. The instructions are emailed to your personal email address. Please use your MagicBell email address for signing up for all work-related services and for all official communications. You can forward the emails to your personal account but make sure that you set up your email client to reply with the official address.

Once you have a MagicBell email address, please set up a Gravatar (or Globally Recognized Avatar) for yourself and then add an image - so we can see your face everywhere. For an explanation about Gravatar: https://en.gravatar.com/support/what-is-gravatar/.

Finally, there will be an onboarding Notion card for you in ‣ to run through (but you don't need to do that now). We've set up links to help you signup for services we use such as Shortcut. Just a heads up that some of the links in this document will only work once you've set up the service.

During the onboarding period and beyond, if there is anything you would like to discuss on a more personal level and do not feel comfortable discussing with your line manager, please reach out to Mark, and he will set up some time to discuss as needed.

Before We Give You Access to Our Tools: Security

Working remotely and using cloud tools is great for the soul, but it also leaves us vulnerable to being hacked or to data theft. We all have a shared responsibility to keep MagicBell’s code, customer data, and our assets safe. Here are a few things you absolutely must do (no exceptions).

  1. Create a Dashlane account with MagicBell, install Dashlane, and set up the 2-factor authentication within the application (not available on their website) by clicking on Tools > Preference > Security > Two-Factor Authentication > Click to unlock settings > Turn on the Two-Factor Authentication. Don't forget to add your MagicBell email address account and Gravatar account to Dashlane.
